De grandes ambitions

What happened to our dreams of youth ? Were they just some illusions ? And do we accept to be who we have become ? What time does to us ?
This novel follows – over a period of thirty years starting in the eighties – different characters of the generation X, whose destinies are all connected at some stage of the story : Sonia, a daughter of a Moroccan cleaner, a precocious IT genius Marc and his long time friend Stéphane, both of a humble social origin, upper-class Clara, working hard to become a physician, and her sister Diane who dreams herself a movie
star…
A minister, an internet tycoon, a communications expert, a populist party leader, an actress, a surgeon, a writer… even a president of the French Republic – they all try to reach the top and/or stay faithful to their dreams. Some will fullfill their ambitions, some will fail. But success, what is it all about?

« De grandes ambitions » (« The Great Ambitions ») is a fascinating portrait of the generation who grew up with the AIDS, the digital revolution and the globalization.

Dépassant les clichés à craindre, ces personnages aux gros ego séduisent en ce qu’ils nous ressemblent. Tour à tour, ils forcent l’admiration, la détestation, mais ne laissent jamais indifférents.
